Russia’s Agriculture Ministry has projected a 2023 grain harvest of more than 123 million metric tons, including 78 million metric tons of wheat, factoring in new territories, according to Minister of Agriculture Dmitry Patrushev. He noted that the ongoing sowing campaign is progressing well, and the country is expecting a well-balanced harvest. This yield would not only ensure national food security but also enable Russia to maintain export commitments to international partners.

Patrushev stated that spring field work has commenced in 50 regions, with all Russian regions anticipated to begin fieldwork by mid-May. He added that, including the new regions, the total cultivated area in 2023 would surpass 85 million hectares. The minister emphasized that these efforts are essential for meeting both domestic and international demand.

The Russian State Statistics Service (Rosstat) has reported that Russia’s grain harvest in net weight for 2022 is set to reach a record-breaking 157.7 million metric tons, comprising 104.2 million metric tons of wheat. This significant harvest demonstrates the country’s ongoing commitment to agricultural development and export capabilities.
